Lamb Tikka Masala

Ingredients

  • 2 to 2.5 lb of boneless lamb washed and cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 4 tbsp of any cooking oil
  • Spicytude Tikka Masala Spice Kit (Spice bags #1 and #2)
  • ½ cup of plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp of garlic minced or crushed or paste
  • 2 tsp of ginger minced or crushed or paste
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 2 tsp of sugar
  • 2 cups of finely chopped onion
  • 3 cups of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of chopped cilantro to garnish

  • 1 big pan to cook.

Step 1:  Marinate and saute lamb

  1. Wash lamb.
  2. Mix together yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste and spice bag #1
  3. Pour marinade over the lamb, mix thoroughly and let marinate for at least an hour or overnight in the fridge if possible.
  4. Put two tablespoons of oil into a heated pan over medium flame and add lamb in batches to saute well. Cook lamb pieces for five minutes or until they are cooked on each side and set aside in a separate bowl.

Step 2: Cook onions, tomatoes and lamb

  1. Add two tablespoons of oil to the same heated pan and saute onions. Once the onions are golden brown, add tomatoes, sugar and spice bag # 2. Once the tomatoes are cooked well, blend everything into a smooth paste.
  2. Step 3: Simmer lamb in the sauce, then add cream
  3. Put the blended onion and tomato sauce into the same heated pan and then add the sauteed lamb. Let cook for ten minutes on a medium flame, turn down the flame to low and add the cream, mixing well. Cook for another three minutes, turn off the stove and garnish with cilantro.
  4. Serve with your choice of rice or naan or any other bread.
  5. Make it your way: Feel free to use any kind of lamb. You can airfry or bake it, whatever works for you. For a dairy free version, swap heavy cream and yogurt with coconut milk or plant based cream.

Step 3: Simmer the lamb in the sauce and add cream

  1. Put the blended onion and tomato sauce into the same heated pan and then add the sauteed lamb. Let cook for ten minutes on a medium flame, turn down the flame to low and add the cream, mixing well. Cook for another three minutes, turn off the stove and garnish with cilantro.
  2. Serve with your choice of rice or naan or any other bread.
  3. Make it your way: Feel free to use any cut of lamb cut into in small pieces. You can airfry or bake it, whatever works for you.
  4. For a dairy free version, swap heavy cream and yogurt with coconut milk or plant based cream.
